2023 Annular Eclipse Eclipse Soundscapes Data Collector Application

APPLICATION DEADLINE: 7/10/2023 - You MUST be 18 years or older to apply

Please review Eclipse Soundscapes Data Collector requirements and commitments and then fill out the application below if you would like to apply to be an Eclipse Soundscapes Data Collector for the October 14, 2023 annular eclipse. As an Eclipse Soundscapes Data Collector you will collect Audio data using an AudioMoth device during the week of the eclipse. Accepted applicants will receive a free Eclipse Soundscapes data collection kit with all necessary tools to collect Eclipse Soundscapes sound data. Kits are limited, so apply early!

Requirements

  • Location: Sound data collection must occur on or near eclipse path, Eclipse visibility 80%+. Click here to determine your location and visibility % during the 2023 annular eclipse.
  • Age: You MUST be 13 years or older to participate as a data collector. You MUST be 18 years or older to apply. If you are under 18, a guardian must fill out this form and apply for you

Data Collector Commitment Upon Acceptance

  • Apprentice & Data Collection Training – Complete free online asynchronous Eclipse Soundscapes Training (1-3 hours)
  • Share Audio Data – Submit collected data either via a upload using the Eclipse Soundscapes website or mailing the MicroSD card using a prepaid envelope
  • Communicate questions, concerns, & feedback with the Eclipse Soundscapes team
