Code of Conduct

The Eclipse Soundscapes Project aims to advance eclipse learning and science in an inclusive environment where all are welcome. This Code of Conduct exists to support the project’s mission and promote a positive experience for all participants.
By agreeing to participate in the Eclipse Soundscapes Project or use the EclipseSoundscapes.org website, you agree to our Code of Conduct. Participants are expected to adhere to the Code of Conduct in all virtual and in-person settings. Failure to adhere may result in a written warning, delivered via email. Severe or repeated violations of the Code of Conduct may result in participants being asked to leave the group or online forum.
Examples of Expected Behavior
- Tolerance and inclusion of all people and identities
- Productive scientific discussion
- Promoting a supportive learning environment for everyone
- Promoting free expression and exchange of scientific ideas
- Promoting a respectful relationship with nature and the environment
Examples of Unacceptable Behavior
- Language or behavior that excludes others
- Hate speech, rude or offensive language, name-calling
- Abusive, demeaning, humiliating, or intimidating behavior
- Physical and/or sexual harassment
- Discussion of unlawful activity
- Intentional fabrication, falsification, or selective reporting of data
- Disruptive or harmful behavior toward nature and the environment
Use of Eclipse Soundscapes Educational Materials
At Eclipse Soundscapes, we are dedicated to promoting eclipse learning for everybody. Educational materials and resources on EclipseSoundscapes.org may be used for educational and non-profit use, but not for resale and is covered by the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International license Please credit “Eclipse Soundscapes Project supported by NASA award No. 80NSSC21M0008” and link it to www.EclipseSoundscapes.org when materials and resources are shared.
Appropriate uses of Eclipse Soundscapes educational materials include:
- Classrooms
- Educational camps, school groups, clubs, etc.
- Libraries
Inappropriate uses of Eclipse Soundscapes educational materials include:
- Resale
- Use or replication of Eclipse Soundscapes logos, photos, or graphics
- Use of Eclipse Soundscapes logos, photos, graphics, etc in conjunction with materials or messages that violate expected behavior. These violations may include, but are not limited to: Harassment, Abuse, Bullying, Any illegal activity, Plagiarism, Hate speech
Use of Eclipse Soundscapes Intellectual Property
In an effort to advance eclipse science and STEM learning, all data, software, and findings from the Eclipse Soundscapes Project will be made available to the public. Data will be recorded and maintained in a form that allows review, analysis, and reproduction by others. This information may be used in future research with appropriate credit.

Filing a Complaint
If you wish to submit a formal complaint regarding the behavior of an Eclipse Soundscapes participant, please do so in writing to outreach@arisalab.org. Complaints will be reviewed by the project PI and Co-I, and participants found to be in violation of the Code of Conduct will be notified of repercussions via email.
